The Institute of Law, Nirma University conducted an expert session by Dr S Rajeshkumar – a biologist and zoologist by profession. He is also credited with discovering the 2nd-newest species of bird post-Independence. He discussed biological governance in India, with reference to the prime legislation in the country regarding the same – Biological Diversity Act, 2002, including its most recent amendment in August, 2023. The session could not have taken place at a better time, when the need to preserve the environment, which includes biodiversity protection as well, is at an all-time high. The session was coordinated by Dr. Shivani Mehta- Assistant Professor at the institute.
