The Moot Court Committee Internals (MCC I) of the Institute of Law, Nirma University organised the Learners’ Moot Court Competition on 16th and 17th of November 2024. The competition was designed exclusively for first-year students to introduce them to the nuances of mooting and legal advocacy. Team T-35, comprising Nandini Zunder, Prisha Jain, and Shreya Panchariya, emerged victorious, earning accolades for their exceptional teamwork and legal acumen.
The first day of the competition commenced with two preliminary rounds. Out of 62 participating teams, the top 8 advanced to the quarter-finals. The second day witnessed the quarter-finals and semi-finals presided over by practicing advocates of the Gujarat High Court and associates from leading law firms. The final round showcased exceptional advocacy skills by the participants. It was judged by a distinguished panel, including Mr. Ronith Joy and Mr. Siddharth Kheskani, both advocates at the Gujarat High Court, alongside Assistant Professors Dr. Vikas Upadhyay, Dr. Abhas Shrivastava, and Prof. Alaukik Shrivastava.
This pioneering initiative was conducted in three meticulously planned phases: the Researcher’s Test, Memorial Submissions, and Oral Rounds. To equip the participants with essential skills, the MCC also organized a five-day preparatory workshop, which provided extensive guidance on legal research, drafting, and oral advocacy. The LMCC proved to be an enriching experience, equipping first-year students with essential mooting skills and boosting their confidence in legal practice. With overwhelming participation and positive feedback, the competition reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to fostering legal excellence from the foundational years.
