The Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC) of the Institute of Law, Nirma University (ILNU) organized a Panel Discussion on “Gender Equality, Sustainability, and Inclusive Growth” on 29th September 2025 at ILNU. The event featured Mr. Mahesh Pandya, Director, Paryavaran Mitra, and Advocate Sonal Joshi as panelists. Both speakers shared their valuable insights, setting the tone for an engaging and informative discussion. Mr. Pandya emphasized the ground realities of climate change and its disproportionate impact on marginalized communities, while Ms. Joshi highlighted the importance of gender equality, the role of the POSH Act, and mechanisms like the Internal Complaints Committee in protecting women’s rights.
The discussion adopted an interdisciplinary approach, touching upon the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and connections between environmental and criminal law. The panelists also referred to recent judicial developments and encouraged students to contribute actively to building an equitable and sustainable society. The event was well-received by the students, who gained meaningful insights into contemporary issues and their role as future lawyers in promoting gender equality, sustainability, and inclusive growth.
