The Institute of Law, Nirma University adheres to an innovative pedagogy, blending together the production and dissemination of knowledge, inculcation of values and nurturing of skills required for the legal profession. Keeping this vision in mind, the academic culture at the Institute provides hosts of simulation exercises to hone the legal skills. Such pedagogical interventions create opportunities for practice-oriented approach and experiential learning in the study of law. We help the students develop the skills of legal research, interpretation and application of law, critical thinking, argumentation, effective communication and collaborative learning. The Institute has been emphasising on seminars, conferences, symposia and mooting activities for promoting practical learning and exposure to the students. The students of the Institute of Law have made a mark by winning numerous prizes in debate competitions, quiz programmes, sports and cultural events, mooting, Alternative Dispute Resolution events and academic presentations.

The winners were awarded a cash prize of ₹1,50,000/-.
The team from Institute of Law Nirma University comprising Vidhi Chhabra, Eva Gupta and Divyanshi Maheshwari won the Delhi Metropolitan Education National Moot Court Competition organized by DME Law School affiliated to the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) held on April 6th and 7th. The winning team bagged a cash prize of ₹40,000/-
At the Learners Moot held at ILNU on March 10, 2024, several students achieved noteworthy success: Nirav Dave (Batch 2023), Varad Upadhyay (Batch 2023), and Akshay Nasi (Batch 2023) emerged as the winners, while Rishit Paliwal (Batch 2023), Katyayini Rana (Batch 2023), and Shreeja Mitra (Batch 2023) secured the runner-up positions. Priyal Sihag (Batch 2023), Jahanvi Verma (Batch 2023), and Teena Bhardwaj (Batch 2023) were recognised for the Best Memorial Respondent, and Deepanshi Gupta (Batch 2023), Runjhun Parashar (Batch 2023), and Sarthak Gupta (Batch 2023) for the Best Memorial Petitioner. Additionally, Nitya Agarwal (Batch 2023) was honored as the Best Researcher, while Anishq Nair (Batch 2023) earned recognition as the Best Speaker.
Anchal Kanthed (Batch 2020) and Juhi Bhayani (Batch 2020) qualified for the prestigious 15th Nelson Mandela World Human Rights Moot Court Competition organised by the University of Pretoria, South Africa. Their memorial was ranked as the Third Best English Language Memorial among more than 50 teams participating worldwide and was awarded the title of Best English Language Memorial of India. Additionally, they were ranked among the top speakers in the preliminary global rounds.
The team comprising Daisy Jain (Batch 2020), Divya Karda (Batch 2020), and Krishnakant Bakliya (Batch 2020) has been adjudged as the Runners-up of the 16th NUJS – Herbert Smith Freehills National Moot Court Competition, 2024. Additionally, the team won the citation for Best Written Submission (Respondent), and Divya Karda received the citation for the best speaker. The competition was held on January 26-27, 2024.
Team comprising Gargi Bindal (Batch 2021), Sejal Khare (Batch 2021), Suchetana Chakraborty(Batch 2021), Atulit Raj(Batch 2021), and Khushi Rohatgi (Batch 2021) participated in the XVI Belgrade Open Pre-moot. The competition took place at the Pravni fakultet Univerziteta u Beogradu / University of Belgrade Faculty of Law. The team successfully completed the pre-moot, gaining valuable experience in preparation for Vienna.

The team comprising Priyanka Jaiswal (Batch 2024), Rishav Kumar (Batch 2024), Vamika Chourasiya (Batch 2025) and Aditi Sharma (Batch 2025) representing Nirma University in the International final rounds of the 2nd edition of Sports Arbitration Moot Court Competition, 2023 held at Madrid, Spain have been adjudged as the WINNERS of the competition.
The team comprising Shashwat Singh (Batch 2024), Suchetana Chakraborty (Batch 2025), Hridyanand Ojha (Batch 2024), Kratin Shastri (Batch 2024), and Shristi Singh (Batch 2019) representing the Institute in the Philip C. Tanvi Pandit (Batch 2026), Rohan Datta(Batch 2026) and Anukul Bishnoi(Batch 2026) were the Quarter Finalists in the 13th Padma Vibhushan N.A. Palkhivala Memorial National Moot Court Competition. Ms. Tattvi Pandit was declared as the best speaker of the event.
A team comprising Priyanshi Rachchh (Batch 2019), Aarush Sharma (Batch 2019) and Gaurav Kothari (Batch 2019) won the 20th Surana and Surana National Corporate Law Moot Court Competition 2023, organised by JSS Law College, Mysuru in collaboration with Surana and Surana, International Attorneys. Additionally, Priyanshi Rachchh (Batch 2019) was awarded as Finals Best Speaker.
Tanshi Tiwari (Batch 2026), Atulit Raj (Batch 2026), and Prithvi Sreekanth (Batch 2026) have been adjudged as the Quarter-Finalists at the national rounds of the prestigious 21st Henry Dunant Memorial Moot Court Competition on International Humanitarian Law, organized by The Indian Society of International Law in collaboration with International Committee of the Red Cross. The team comprising Shruti Verma, Anusha Shekhawat and Deepak Singh Jadoun were adjudged as winners of the Commonwealth Legal Education Association (CLEA) Moot Court Competition (India rounds), 2019 held at CSI College for Legal Studies, Kerala from 12th-13th January, 2019. The team also won the citation for the Second Best Memorial. The team will now represent India in the Sixteenth Commonwealth Moot, 2019 to be held in conjunction with the 21st Commonwealth Law Conference in Zambia in April 2019.
The team comprising Aarushi Kasliwal, Vaibhav Singh and Shivi Shrivastava won the prestigious ever rolling trophy of Adv TS Venkateshwara for the Best Memorial. Aarushi Kasliwal was bestowed with the award for the Best Female Advocate and Best Student Advocate. Vaibhav Singh was awarded the Best Male Advocate prize and Shivi Shrivastava was awarded with the 2nd Best Researcher prize in XIX All India Moot Court Competition 2019. The team comprising Sristi Gautam, Saurabh Pancholi, Chitransh Sharma and Kajal Singh qualified for Prof N R Madhava Menon SAARC LAW Moot Court Competition – International Rounds. The qualifying rounds of the said competition were organized by Lloyd Law College, Noida from 26th October – 28th October, 2018.
The team comprising Jaya Singh, Mansi Singh, Soma Silpa Swain and Namit Jain qualified for the world rounds of the 23rd Stetson International Environmental Moot Court Competition, 2019 by securing a place in the Semi Finals of the Surana and Surana India National Rounds, 2018. The India National Rounds were organized by Jindal Global Law School, Sonipat, Haryana, from 23rd November–25th November, 2018.
The team comprising Chahat Mangtani, Tamanna Sharma & Anjali Jhawar won the Best Memorial in the 8th Amity International Moot Court Competition 2018, held in Amity Law School, Noida from 12th October – 13th October, 2018. The valedictory ceremony of the competition was attended by the former Chief Justice of India, Mr Dipak Misra.
The team comprising Palak Jain of 2nd year, Shubhsmita of 2nd year and Bhavya Sharma of 4th year were adjudged as runners-up at 4th National Moot Court Competition organized by Rajeev Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law (RGSoIPL) from 31st August to 02nd September, 2018.
The team comprising Rishabh Jain, Shipra Sayal and Shubham Gupta, all of 3rd year were adjudged as the winners of the Best Memorial Award at the 4th GNLU Moot on Securities and Investment Law, 2018 held at Gujarat National Law University from 06th to 09th September, 2018.
The team comprising Navya Singh, Kulsoom Farhat Khan and Vinisha Jain, all of 2nd year, were adjudged as Quarter Finalists at the 18 Henry Dunant Memorial Moot Court Competition, 2018. Navya Singh was also adjudged as the Best Advocate at the same tournament. The team comprising Piyush Swami, Rishabh Rela and Jaya Singh represented ILNU in the 14th Nani Palkhiwala Tax Moot Court Competition, 2018 organized by School of Law, Sastra Deemed to be University, Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu and declared the WINNERS. Ms. Jaya Singh adjudicated as the Second Best Speaker in the Competition.

The Xavier’s Pre-UADC Asian Parliamentary Debate 2024 organised by St. Xaviers College, Kolkata from April 12th-14th, 2024. Our participant Tanshi Tiwari (Batch 2026) selected as 3rd Best Adjudicator of the debate and went on to judge the Open Grand Finals of the debate. Anishq Nair (Batch 2028) was the adjudicator and judged the Novice Finals of the debate. The team comprising Khushi Dhaulakhandi (Batch 2028), Shaunak Saha (Batch 2028), Srinivas Iyer (Batch 2028) were the Novice Semi-Finalists of the tournament.
The English Debating Society of Kamala Nehru College organised the 8th edition of Munaazrah Gender and Sexual Minorities Asian Parliamentary Debate 2024 from 20th April 2024 to 22nd April 2024. Tanshi Tiwari (Batch 2026) declared as 2nd Best Adjudicator of the tournament and a Panellist at the Open Grand Finals.
Nidhi Kamath (Batch 2022), Pratik Oke (Batch 2022), and Priyanshi Jaisinghani (Batch 2022) represented the Institute of Law, Nirma University at the 12th NLIU INADR International Mediation Tournament, held from March 22-24, 2024. Nidhi Kamath was adjudged as the 4th best client and counsel, and Priyanshi Jaisinghani (Batch 2022) was adjudged as the 4th best client and counsel and the 6th best counsel pair.
Tanshi Tiwari (Batch 2021) served as an adjudicator and panelist at the Open Octo-Finals and Novice Finals of the 16th Annual NUJS Parliamentary Debate Competition 2024, held from February 23 – 25, 2024 hosted by The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences. She was the 3rd Best Adjudicator. Siddharth Shrivastava (Batch 2021) acted as an adjudicator and panelist at the Open Octo-Finals. Additionally, the team comprising N. Pompi Devi (Batch 2022), Ananya Bansal (Batch 2022), and Tanya Aithani (Batch 2022) qualified as the 11th breaking team, and reached the Open Octo-Finals.
The Cambridge British Parliamentary Qualifiers organised by Indian Debating League, were held on January 28, 2024. The qualifiers were conducted to screen Team India’s contingent for Cambridge IV 2024. Partha Singh (Batch 2026) was awarded the Best Judge at the Cambridge British Parliamentary Qualifiers.
Pancham Prabhune (Batch 2025) chaired the Open Quarterfinals and Aarush Sharma (Batch 2024) was panelist for the Open Quarterfinals in Delhi Technological University Parliamentary Debate 2024 held on January 13-15, 2024.
16th Edition of the IIT Bombay IV Debate Tournament in India organised from October 27-29, 2023. Shashvat Narindra and Partha Singh was advanced as Quarter-Finalists. Sreshta Chowdermet and Saubhagya Agarwal was advanced as the Novice Semi-finalists.
Ananya Kaushik (Batch 2027) and Srinanda Chatterjee (Batch 2027) were declared the Runners Up, and the team of Shubhamkar Bhandari (Batch 2027) and Yashaswi Trivedi (Batch 2027) were the Open Finalists, Partha Singh (Batch 2027) and Shashvat Narindra (Batch 2027) were adjudged as the Open Finalists of the tournament, and Srinanda was the Third Best Speaker, Ananya was the Sixth Best Speaker of the tournament, Shubhamkar was also declared as the 5th Best Speaker of the tournament, Shashwat was also the 9th Best Speaker of the tournament also Sreshta Chowdermet (Batch 2027) clinched the title of Breaking Adjudicator and went on to be a panelist in the Novice Finals. Priyanshi Rachchh (Batch 2024) and Aarush Sharma (Batch 2024) were Invited Adjudicators in the tournament and both were on the panel of Novice Finals. Tanshi Tiwari (Batch 2026) clinched the title of Breaking Adjudicator, Yashaswi Trivedi (Batch 2027) and Shubhamkar Bhandari (Batch 2027) was ranked the 7th Best Novice Speaker and Shubhamkar was ranked the 6th Best Novice Speaker. Ananya Kaushik (Batch 2027) was ranked the 10th Best Novice Speaker. Partha Singh (Batch 2027) and Shashvat Narindra (Batch 2026) break as a Reserve Team for the Open category at the NALSAR Inter–Varsity Debate Competition 2023 organised by the Debate Society of NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad between 8th and 10th September 2023.

Intertext Pre-ABP organised by Intertext Education on September 16-17, 2023 is one of the most reputed debating tournaments in the Asian region. Priyanshi Rachchh was invited Adjudicator and she Judged the Grand Finals of the Tournament.

Devashish Trivedi (Batch 2015) at the 40th World Universities Debate Championship (WUDC) 2020 in Bangkok, Thailand. Devashish defied convention to secure an Open Break as an Adjudicator, becoming one among a handful of Indian debators to secure a break in the 40 year old history of the Championship.
Devashish Trivedi declared Best Adjudicator at the competition, Jahnavi Pandey and Nivedita Singh of first year, qualified for the Novice Semi Finals. Prakshi Singh qualified for the Reserved Novice Semi Finals.
Subham Krishna Borah was the 3rd Best Adjudicator at the Punjab Engineering College Asian Parliamentary Debate, Chandigarh. A total of 110 adjudicators competed against each other.
Devashish Trivedi and Shubham Borah secured adjudicator break-ins at the 12th Annual Hansraj Debate i.e. ‘Shanti’ which was held at Hansraj College, Delhi in February, 2019. The format of the debate was a parliamentary debate and saw the top law colleges of India competing in it. Shubham Borah became a finals judge and was among the top 5 adjudicators of the tournament.

Feni Neelesh Katariya (Batch 2026) participated in the 19th WKI International Karate Championship 2023 and secured Gold Medal in Kumite Competition and Bronze Medal in Kata Competition. The competition was organized by Wado Kai Karate Do Federation of India from November 24 to November 26, 2023 at Port Stadium, Vishakhapatnam, India. Ten countries participated in the International Championship and India won the International Championship Trophy.

Institute’s Football Team, won the Inter Institute Football Tournament as a part of the Sports Festival, 2018, Nirma University. The team beat the football team from Institute of Technology, Nirma University by a margin of 2-1 to secure a win in the finals.
The team comprising Yash Mittal and Ritesh Goyal were adjudged winners of Law Learners 5th National Law Quiz Competition, 2018 organized in association with Legal Desire. The quiz was conducted from 29th November – 1st December, 2018 having two preliminary rounds comprising 30 questions and a Final Round comprising 40 questions. The team secured 1st position out of 240 participants and has won Gift Hampers worth ₹10,000/-.
