  • Prof. (Dr.) Madhuri Parikh is a distinguished Professor of Law and currently serves as the Director and Dean (I/c.) at the Institute of Law, Nirma University. Her expertise spans Climate Change and Law, Climate Justice, Public Participation in Environmental Decision Making, Forest Law, Rights of Tribals, and Research Methodology. With over two decades of experience, she has made significant contributions as a researcher, academician, administrator, and environmentalist at both national and international levels. Her work in Environmental Impact Assessment and Climate Justice has been pivotal, particularly in public consultation and public hearing processes, and in advocating for sustainable and inclusive approach. Dr. Parikh’s extensive field research in Environmental Law underscores her commitment to knowledge creation and societal impact. She has authored numerous research papers presented at national and international forums. Her portfolio includes several funded research projects, such as consultancy projects with the Gujarat Ecological Commission on Coastal Regulation Zone implementation, a major project on public participation in environmental decision-making funded by IMPRESS ICSSR, and consultancy projects on Corporate Climate Litigation in India by the British Institute of International Comparative Law. Currently, she is engaged in ongoing research and consultancy projects, including developing a toolbox on Corporate Climate Litigation in India, a study on the implementation of the Forest Rights Act in Gujarat funded by the Tribal Research Institute, and an educational framework for Climate Justice funded by Azim Premji University. Dr. Parikh also serves as the National Rapporteur for India on Global Climate Litigation under the Columbia Law School, Columbia Climate School, Sabin Centre for Climate Law, New York. She has published extensively in reputed journals and has received several awards for her research and teaching contributions. Additionally, she is a member of the International Association of Impact Assessment.
