Dr. Shivani Mehta is the first scholar of Nirma University, Institute of Law to be awarded with Ph.D degree. The title of her Ph.D was "Data Protection : A Comparitive Study", wherein she has researched about private data handling in various sectors within India. She was a practicing advocate in the field of Intellectual Property Rights. She also co-authored a book titled "IP at a Glance" which gives primary information about IPR. She has also an article published in AIR regarding Data Protection.
