  • Dr. Varsha Bhagat-Ganguly has been a professor at the Institute of Law, Nirma University, Ahmedabad and Centre for Rural Studies, Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie, and a Fellow at Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla (2013-15). She has also worked in a lead positions in development sector for more than two decades. Her research based publications include 15 books, 23 articiles/book chapters, 5 book reviews and several write ups on e-portals/blogs. She has worked as a managing editor of three academic journals published by the premier institutions of India. Her publications cover a wide range of social and development issues, such as violence on women, single women, pastoral communities of Gujarat, land rights & governance issues, protest movements from the perspectives of citizen's rights, and social justice. The recent publications are: E-waste manage in India (2021, Routledge); The land question in neoliberal India: socio-legal and judicial interpretations (2021, Routledge); India's Scheduled Areas: Untangling governance, law and politics (2020, Routledge); Journey towards land titling in India (2017, LBSNAA & Shipra Publication); Protest Movement Citizen's Rights in Gujarat (1970-2010) (2015, IIAS, Shimla); and Land Rights in India: Policies, Movements and Challenges (2016, 2018, Routledge). Her areas of interest are: conducting & teaching research and versatile applications; Sociology of land; land laws, governance and land rights; Climate change & just transition; India's Scheduled Areas; Social justice; Right's perspective; Collective action; Sociology of data; Pastoralism and pastoralists and Gujarat.
