Seminar on Labour and Market Access

The Institute of Law, Nirma University and the Faculty of Law, University of Johannesburg are delighted to host a four-part seminar series as part of a collaborative project. The ground for considered comparative analysis between India and South Africa is extensive. While both countries have accepted justice as a constitutional value, they are marred by extensive inequality along a number of intersecting grounds, and multiple actors – both public and private – bear duties to combat inequality. New forms of work have emerged in both countries that are characterised by burgeoning informal economies and by the challenges posed by climate change. Against this backdrop, legal education and emerging technologies function as important – even if sometimes imperfect – tools of contestation. Please join us for a four-part online seminar series where presenters from both jurisdictions will debate these themes in comparative context.

13:00 – 16:30 India Standard Time
09:30 – 13:00 South African Standard Time
