Workshop On Mainstreaming Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Higher Education Institutions (HEI’s)

Institute of Law, Nirma University organised a two day workshop on Mainstreaming Sustainable Development Goals on 22-23 July 2021. The workshop aimed at integrating Sustainable development goals (SDGs) in our curriculum, research and community outreach and for capacity building of our faculty members. The distinguished resource persons for this faculty workshop included Dr. Rajesh Tandon (Founer- Society for Participatory Research in Asia), Mr. Kartikey Sarabhai (Director- Centre for Environment Education), Ms Nupur Sinha (Managing Tustee- Centre for Social Justice) and Prof. (Dr.) Purvi Pokhariyal (Dean -School of Law, Forensic Justice and Policy Studies, National Forensic Sciences University). 

The resource persons emphasized on experiential teaching, learning and research. They also emphasized on fostering social responsibility and community engagement in higher educational institutions in India. The workshop aimed to design a critical pedagogy especially for law schools running integrated 5-year course to develop and build a long term institutional approach to address the immediate challenges that lies ahead in creating a meaningful public oriented discussion, dialogue and action research to understand and disseminate possible blueprint to achieve sustainable development. 

Earlier, Dr Madhuri Parikh, I/C Director, ILNU in her welcome address stressed on the need for integrating SDG’s in academic curriculum. Prof (Dr) Varsha Ganguly, Research Head at the institute,  Dr Kunal Kishore and Dr Mukti Jaiswal were the coordinators at the event.
