The Inaugural session of the 1st ILNU Mock Trial Competition & Conference on Economic Offences (March 28-30) was held today at the Institute of Law, Nirma University. Hon’ble Justice P.B. Majmudar, Former Judge High Court of Gujarat graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Dr. Anup K. Singh, Director General- Nirma University, Prof. (Dr.) Madhuri Parikh Dean and Director(I/c), Institute of Law, Dr. Jyotsna Yagnik, Former Judge City Civil and Sessions Court, Ahmedabad and Shri Ajay Tomar Retd IPS Officer were the other dignitaries at the event.
The Conference on Economic Offences featured two key panel discussions: White Collar Crimes in India – Technological and Legal Challenges and Procedural Aspects of PMLA and Victim Restitution. Mr. Jai Anant Dehadrai – Advocate on Record, Supreme Court of India, Mr. Jayant Bhatt – Advocate, Supreme Court of India, Ms. Tanya Ganguli – Principal Associate, Panag & Babu, Mr. Vivek Jain – Partner, MZM Legal LLP, Mr. Monark Gahlot – Partner (Disputes), Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, Mr. Rahul Tyagi – Panel Counsel, Enforcement Directorate, Mr. Gautam Khazanchi – Advocate, Supreme Court of India were the distinguished speakers at the panel discussion. Advocate Rachit Khamparia, Bombay High Court and Dr. Alaukik Shrivastava, Assistant Professor, ILNU were the moderators at the event. This event will bring together over 40 leading law schools for an enriching legal experience, featuring a Mock Trial Competition simulating real-time courtroom proceedings and a Conference on Economic Offences, where distinguished speakers will engage in discussions on white-collar crimes, compliance, and enforcement challenges. The event was organised by Nirma University Institute of Law Students Activities Committee (NILSAC) in collaboration with Lawyers Incubation Clinic (LIC). Dr. Devang Chhatrapati and Dr. Abhas Shrivastava, Assistant Professor’s ILNU coordinated the event.
