NSS Unit of the Institute of Law, Nirma University organised a 7 Day Residential village camp at Rampura, Gandhinagar from March 1-7th, 2025. The same was organised in line with the objective of provide hands on experience to young students in delivering community service. A group of 40 students engaged themselves in a number of community service activities The volunteers gathered to clean public spaces and spread awareness about hygiene and sustainability. A session was organised on waste management to educate participants on proper waste segregation and recycling techniques. Emphasis was placed on reducing waste through sustainable practices. The Legal Aid team oriented the residents about rights, legal procedures, and access to justice. The session aimed to empower individuals with legal knowledge and support. The team from Centre for Child rights Advocacy highlighted child rights and welfare schemes. The discussions focused on ensuring safety, education, and well-being of children. Another session addressed myths, hygiene practices, and the importance of menstrual health. It aimed to break stigma and promote open discussions on menstruation. The locals were also provided guidance on career options, skill development, and industry trends. During the Consumer awareness session, the participants learned about consumer rights, fraud prevention, and ethical buying practices. The session encouraged informed decision-making in daily purchases. The camp also showcased diverse performances including singing, dance and Nukkad-Natak on cyber security and a diya painting program to foster artistic expression and festive spirit. Prof. (Dr.) Madhuri Parikh, Dean and Director (I/c) conveyed that the NSS Unit is dedicated to identify the needs and problems of the community and involve youth in problem-solving. Dr. Deba Ranjan Hota and Dr. Vineet Chauhan – Assistant Professors at the Institute were the faculty coordinators at the residential camp.
