Centre for Environmental Law in collaboration with the Institute Unit of National Service Scheme organised a workshop on the topic “Revival of Indian Rivers – Reviving a Lost Culture” by Shri Rajendra Singh.
Institute of Law, Nirma University on 20.10.2019 conducted a workshop on the topic “Revival of Indian Rivers – Reviving a Lost Culture” by Shri Rajendra Singh, who is a Magsaysay Awardee and winner of Stockholm Water Prize – 2015, is an Indian Water Conservationist and Environmentalist. He is also known as ‘Waterman of India’. He enlightened the audience with his wide experience and emphasised on the need for community Participation, using local technologies and reviving the indigenous practises in order to revive the rivers. He spoke about the various techniques that have been employed by him in order to rejuvenate the rivers and pressed upon the need to be serious about the issue as seventy-two percent of India’s groundwater has run an overdraft. In all, the session was an enriching one which made the audience aware and conscious about the pertaining issue.
