On the occasion of Earth Day 2025, the Institute of Law, Nirma University (ILNU) marked the day with a series of engaging and thought-provoking activities designed to promote awareness and action on environmental sustainability. This year, Earth Day is being celebrated under the theme of ‘Our Power, Our Planet’, calling everyone to unite for renewable energy and make an effort to triple the clean energy by 2030. These events were jointly organised by the Student Welfare Board (SWB), ILNU, and the Centre for Environmental Law (CEL), ILNU. With the overarching theme of sustainability and environmental consciousness, the celebration served as a reminder of our collective responsibility to preserve and protect the Earth. Pottery Workshop: Clay Art for the Earth, Tote Bag Painting Workshop and a Nukkad Natak was organised on the theme of sustainability.
In celebration of Earth Day and as a tribute to the beauty of natural materials, a Clay Pottery Workshop was conducted in the ILNU Courtyard. The workshop was coordinated by Ms Kritika Jaisawal, an ILNU alumna (2014 Batch), and was aimed at encouraging the use of organic materials in creative expressions. The hands-on session invited participants to craft their pieces using clay, one of the Earth’s most sustainable and versatile resources. Participants immersed themselves in the experience of creating art that reflects the natural world, fostering a deeper connection with sustainable practices. Tote Bag Painting Workshop: Creativity Meets Sustainability Running parallel to the pottery session, the Tote Bag Painting Workshop was another highlight of the Earth Day celebrations. This event provided students with an opportunity to translate their commitment to the environment into vibrant artworks on reusable tote bags. With the objective of discouraging the use of single-use plastic bags, the workshop encouraged students to design and paint eco-friendly totes, each serving as a statement piece supporting the cause of sustainability.
The activity not only promoted sustainable alternatives but also empowered participants to become ambassadors of environmental consciousness through their art. The Earth Day celebrations at ILNU were marked by enthusiastic participation, creative expression, and a shared commitment to environmental stewardship. Through a mix of artistic and performative initiatives, the Student Welfare Board and the Centre for Environmental Law successfully brought attention to pressing environmental issues and encouraged sustainable practices within the ILNU community.
