The Centre for Corporate Law Studies (CCLS) at the Institute of Law, Nirma University organised an Expert Lecture on “International Trade Law” on 7th November 2025. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Mr. Devinder Bagia, Executive Partner at Lakshmi Kumaran & Sridharan Attorneys, a distinguished professional with over sixteen years of experience in legal and tax advisory services, specialising in Customs, International Trade, and WTO Laws.
Mr. Bagia highlighted the changing dynamics of global trade, explaining how tariffs and trade remedies are triggered within the framework of WTO and GATT principles. Using clear visual charts and real-world examples, he provided a practical understanding of how international trade law operates and how shifts in trade policies across major economies such as the US and EU affect domestic industries.
The objective of the event was to enhance students’ understanding of international trade mechanisms and to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and real-world legal practice. The session aimed to inspire students to explore the evolving field of trade law and appreciate its growing relevance in a rapidly globalising economy.
