Expert Lecture on Natural Resources and Environment, Displacement and Development

The Institute of Law, Nirma University organized an Expert Lecture on Natural Resources and Environment, Displacement and Development on October 31, 2025 and November 1, 2025.  The invited expert was Dr. Ruchi Shree, Assistant Professor, PG Department of Political Science, Tilka Majhi  Bhagalpur University (TMBU), Bhagalpur.  Dr. Ruchi Shree highlighted in her deliberation that Natural Resources and the Environment form the foundation of human survival, with water conservation emerging as the most urgent need of our time. However, development-induced displacement remains a major challenge, as large projects often force communities especially vulnerable groups: to leave their homes, disrupting social, cultural, and economic life. The discussion stressed that true development is possible only when environmental protection, judicious use of resources, and human rights are harmoniously integrated. Conserving water, ensuring equitable resource distribution, and minimizing displacement are essential for building a future where both people and the planet can thrive.  The session was organized for students of LL.M. (One Year) Students.
