An expert session on the Rights of Tribals with special reference to forest rights was organised at the institute. Mr Bharat Singh Govil and Mr Bhawaniya, Research Officers – Tribal Research Institute (TRI) Gujarat were the resource person at the session. The experts talked about the tribal communities residing in the east belt (Purva Patti) which comprises of 25 districts and 89 lakh tribal people and discussed the rights of these tribals under the Forest Rights Act, 2006. They highlighted the problems faced by these tribals and emphasised on the importance of Forest Rights to safeguard the rights of these tribals and to provide security from extraneous factors as a result of industrialisation and urbanisation.
