Centre for Environment and Energy Law (CEEL), Institute of Law, Nirma University organized field trips for the 6th Semester B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) and B. Com., LL.B (Hons.) environmental law students on March 1st and 5th, 2024. The students witnessed live Public Hearing proceedings which were conducted for granting environmental clearances for maintaining transparency in environmental decision making and to promote public participation. Prior to these filed trips reference literature on EIA and respective summary report of applicants were shared with the student as preview of the EIA-EPH proceedings.
The students also interacted with the presiding authority i.e., SDM, local regulators representing Gujarat Pollution Control Board, Gujarat State and the project proponents from M/S Biogenomics and M/S Hindustan Gums & Chemicals Ltd.
Prof (Dr.) Madhuri Parikh, Director and Dean (I/c), Institute of law shared that the institute believes in imparting legal education in its holistic form within and beyond classroom in real and contextual settings. The objective of the field trip was to observe the law in action and to understand the gap of law in its implementation. The CEEL, ILNU acknowledges sincere thanks to authorities GPCB Shri. This trip was coordinated by course coordinators Dr. Chote Lal Yadav, Dr. Parna Mukherjee and were also accompanied and assisted by Dr. Manjula Raghav and Dipti Deshpande.
