The Institute of Law, Nirma University organised the virtual inaugural ceremony of the Induction and Orientation Programme for the First Year Batch of B.A., LL. B (Hons.), B. Com LL. B (Hons.) on August 2, 2022. The occasion was graced by the eminent presence of Dr. Pavan Duggal- Advocate, Supreme Court of India as the distinguished Chief Guest along with esteemed dignitaries Dr. Anup K. Singh, Director-General Nirma University and Dr. Madhuri Parikh, Dean and Director (I/c), Institute of Law, Nirma University.
Dr. Pavan Duggal in his address highlighted the role of lawyers as a social engineer’s. He narrated the massive transformation that has taken place in the legal profession in the last few years. He enlightened the students on the importance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in law and emphasized the constructive role of technology in encouraging access to justice. He also motivated the students to explore various arenas of law and encouraged the students to engage in numerous internships.
Dr. Anup K. Singh illustrated the distinctions between school and college life and urged the students to move beyond information seeking mode and focus on being a critical thinker. He encouraged students to develop citizenry values and keep having a critical look at themselves and strive towards excellence in all spheres of life. Earlier Dr. Madhuri Parikh, Dean and Director, Institute of Law delivered the welcome address. She portrayed the journey of the institute since its inception in 2007. Dr. Arun Prasad, Associate Professor at the institute delivered the vote of thanks. Dr. Mamta Pillai was the coordinator at the event.
