Inaugural session ILNU-NHRC Moot Court Competition

The Institute of Law, Nirma University (ILNU) in collaboration with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of India inaugurated the ILNU-NHRC Moot Court Competition, 2026 on 6th February. The Competition will unfold, in a culmination of various rounds, to be held on 7th and 8th February, 2026.

The inauguration ceremony was presided by Justice (Retired) Kaushal J. Thakkar, Chairperson of Gujarat State Human Rights Commission along with Shri Bharat Lal, General Secretary and CEO of National Human Rights Commission, India as the Chief Guest of the ceremony. Both dignitaries, eminent authority in environment governance and climate policy, addressed the participating students on the pressing global challenges arising out of the climate change. Their presence lent significant intellectual and legal weight to the competition.

The Director and Dean, Prof. (Dr.) Madhuri Parikh, began the event with her welcome address, addressing the global challenges connected to climate change. Following this, Shri KK Patel, Vice President, Nirma University, officially declared the opening of moot court competition, and wished all the team’s the very best for their journey, marking an auspicious beginning to the event.

The competition has witnessed an overwhelming national participation, with 51 teams registering from leading law institutions across the country. Following a rigorous preliminary elimination round, 20 teams qualified for the Moot Court Competition.
