The Institute of Law, Nirma University organised an interactive session on the Celebration of 60 years of The Customs Act, 1962 in collaboration with Office of Principle Commissioner, Customs Ahmedabad on December 7, 2022. Mr Lalit Prasad (Commissioner, Customs Ahmedabad), Mr Mohit Agarwal (Additional Commissioner, Customs Gujarat) Mr Abhilash Sreenivasan (Additional Commissioner, Customs Surat) Mr Vishal Malani (Additional Commissioner, Customs Ahmedabad) were the esteemed panelists at the discussion. The session involved discussion on the role of Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, types of Customs and the role of Customs Department in providing security to the nation. It also included as to how Customs Department detect illegal import and smuggling of: Gold, Gems, Diamonds and other precious metals, Arms and Ammunition, Drugs and other harmful substances, Flora and Fauna including wild venomous animals, Foreign Currencies etc. The Session was organised under the able guidance of Prof (Dr) Madhuri Parikh, Dean and Director (I/c), Dr Arun Prasad and Dr Amit Kumar Kashyap at the Institute. The Event was successfully organised by the cooperation of Quiz Committee at the Institute.
