The Legal Aid Clinic, Institute of Law organised a Legal Aid Camp at the Institute premises on April 5, 2025 to provide free legal assistance and guidance to the public. Shri R. A. Trivedi, Member Secretary- Gujarat State Legal Services Authority (GSLSA) inaugurated the event. Prof. (Dr.) Madhuri Parikh, Dean and Director, Institute of Law, Nirma University and Mr. Prashant Pandya, Director of the Planning Department and Additional City Census Officer at the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation were the other dignitaries at the event.
The camp addressed address various legal concerns and provide professional support to those in need. The camp covered a range of legal matters, including but not limited to Motor vehicle matters and accident claims, Property and tenancy matters, Domestic violence and family-related issues, Consumer protection and service-related issues etc. The team of Adv. S P Gamara, S.D. Chitairya, Garvita Soni, A. A. Gor and M. S. Sadariys volunteered their time and knowledge to provide consultations on a wide array of legal matters. A dedicated Aadhaar Card Drive was also held aimed at creation, updating, and correction of Aadhaar cards to assist participants with essential identity documentation. This initiative was executed with the cooperation of the City Census Department, Ahmedabad. Ms. Rakhitaben, Mr. Dashrathbhai Dabhi, Mr. B.A. Jadavbhai facilitated the operations.
The camp witnessed an encouraging turnout and engagement from various groups. 15 Pre-Registered Legal Aid Entries, 30 On-the-Spot Legal Aid Consultations (OPD), 20 Aadhaar Card Beneficiaries, 60 Consultations and Inquiries at the Legal Aid Clinic, Site 80 Workers from Nirma University Assisted, and 80 Workers were benefitted at Dhanwantri Camp.
The Legal Aid Camp was significant step towards involvement of law students in pro-bono work and community service. Dr. Foram Patel Faculty Advsior- Legal Aid Committee coordinated the event. Mr. Shashwat Shah was the student chairperson at the event.
