Orientation Programme 2025

The Institute of Law, Nirma University (ILNU) organized the First-Year Orientation Program from July 19- 31, 2025, to formally welcome the incoming batch of law students and to facilitate their smooth academic and social integration into the university. The program was designed to equip students with essential knowledge, guidance, and motivation for beginning their law school journey.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by the presence of Mr. Mihir Thakore, Senior Advocate at the High Court of Gujarat, Professor Dr. Jyotsna Yagnik, Adjunct Professor at ILNU and former Judge at the City Civil and Sessions Court, Ahmedabad, and Professor Dr. Madhuri Parikh, Dean and Director of the institute. These dignitaries addressed the students on the importance of legal education, professional responsibility, and the role of law in shaping society.

Over the course of ten days, the program featured a range of sessions conducted by internal faculty members and external experts. The topics covered included a session on the Law School Journey by alumnus Ms. Deepika Bahirwani, and a lecture on Career Prospects in Law by Mr. Rohan Batra, Partner at Anagram Partners. Mr. Anish Baheti, Founder of Train My Brain, conducted engaging sessions titled “Feel the Sequence. Find the Self.” and “Beyond Degrees: Designing a Life of Purpose, Not Just a Career.” Mr. Santosh Mane, General Counsel at Zydus Wellness, spoke about a Career in In-House Counsel, while Ms. Pratiksha Laheri, Visiting Faculty at ILNU addressed the students on Preservation of Mental Health in the legal profession. Mr. Malav Deliwala, Head of Corporate Legal at Adani Group, delivered a session on Career in Corporate, and Advocate Parv Gupta provided insights into a Career in Litigation. A session on Communication skills was taken by Ms. Swapna Sai, a professional communication trainer, and the issue of Navigating Loneliness and Stress was covered by Dr. Prashant Bhimani, a psychologist based in Ahmedabad. Sessions on Internships and Career Beyond Law were taken by Mr. Amol Sharma, an alumnus from the batch of 2016–2021, while Mr. Aditya Yagnik, Founder and Managing Partner at Yagnik Shah & Co. and an alumnus from the batch of 2010–2015, led a discussion on Corporate vs. Litigation.

Students were also familiarized with student-run committees, co-curricular centres, academic regulations, support systems, alumni engagement, and placement processes, offering a holistic view of life at the institute. Coordinated by faculty from the Humanities and Commerce area, with support from staff and volunteers, the program reflected ILNU’s commitment to combining academic excellence with professional readiness. It laid a strong foundation for the students’ journey by instilling clarity, confidence, and a sense of belonging.
