The Women Development Cell, Nirma University organised a session on the Sexual Harassment of Women at the Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 on December 17, 2022. The session was conducted by Ms. Shreya Srivastava, Assistant Professor at the Institute of Law, Nirma University and member, Women Development Cell, Nirma University. The session was attended by 25 participants, who are faculty and staff members at Nirma University.
The session aimed to sensitise employees of Nirma University about the working of the POSH Act, 2013 in the context of universities and educational institutions. It focused on the problem surrounding sexual harassment at the workplace, the formation of Internal Complaints Committee, manner of filing complaints with the ICC, procedure of enquiry, and the redressal mechanism under the POSH Act, 2013. The session also covered responsibilities of universities towards students and employees as well as the supportive measures that should be provided by educational institutions to prevent and address instances of sexual harassment.
