Clinical Legal Education Workshop on Socially Relevant and Professionally Ready Programme

The Institute of Law, Nirma University organized a two day Clinical Legal Education workshop on Socially Relevant and Professionally Ready Programme. (July 19-20, 2021).  The resource person for the event were Prof. MRK Prasad– Professor of Law, V. M. Salgaocar College of Law, Goa,  Prof. Dr. Purvi Pokhariyal– Professor and Dean, School of Law, Forensic Justice and Policy Studies, NFSU, Gujarat,  Dr. Babugouda Patil– Professor and Dean, School of Law, Goa,  Dr. Kalpesh Kumar Gupta– Associate Professor, Parul University, Guarat,  and Mr. Abhayraj Naik. Researcher and Consultant, Visiting Faculty, Azim Premji University, NLS Bangalore. 

Clinical Legal Education is a term that encompasses learning which is focused on enabling students to understand how the law works in action. It aims to bridge the gap between theory and practice. The experts stressed that in order to keep pace with the contemporary developments, there is a need to bring changes in the legal education system also. It is high time to make legal education more socially relevant and also make the prospective professionals ready for the contemporary world. Clinical legal education is looked at as a possible solution to these problems. By adopting clinical legal education, the law student not only knows the law but also acquires various skills such as legal research, counselling, negotiation, problem diagnosis, formulating legal issues, advisory skills, and much more.
