The Pro-bono Club, Institute of Law – Nirma University and Centre for Social Justice organised a Two-day Women Lawyers’ Meet on January 6-7, 2023. The meet was organised to train and sensitize young women lawyers coming from all the parts of Gujarat on socially relevant issues. The esteemed speakers of the program were Shri RA Trivedi, Member Secretary, Gujarat State Legal Services Authority, Prof(Dr) Madhuri Parikh, Director and Dean (I/c), Institute of Law, Nirma University, Prof (Dr) Purvi Pokhariyal, Campus Director, National Forensic Sciences University, Gandhinagar, Dr Jyotsna Yagnik, Retd Judge and Clinical Professor of Law, ILNU, Ms Tanvi Singh and Ms Nivedita Dalal- Centre for Social Justice, Mr Nitesh Chaudhary and Dr Neeraj Gupta, Assistant Professor, Institute of Law, Nirma University.
The speakers trained the participants on important topics of law such as the Prevention of Atrocities against the SC ST Act, POCSO, Journey and role of a lawyer, Alternate Dispute Resolution, Prisoners Right, Victim Compensation Scheme etc. The event was attended by 33 women lawyers from all districts of Gujarat such as Valsad, Morbi, Bharuch, Godhra etc. This program served as an important activity as the training will impact the participants in a manner that they will be able to contribute to the society. Mr Alaukik Shrivastava and Mr Abhas Srivastava were the coordinators at the event.
