The Institute of Law is a Constituent Institution of Nirma University, a Statutory University established by the special Act passed by the Gujarat State Assembly. The University is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2 (f) of UGC Act and also accredited by NAAC with Grade ‘A+’.

  • The Institute offers B.A., LL.B (Hons.), B.Com., LL.B. (Hons.) and B.B.A., LL.B. (Hons.)* Programmes. All these programmes are Five Year Integrated Programmes.

Yes, the Institute offers Ph.D. Programme (Doctor of Philosophy in Law).

  • The Undergraduate Programmes B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) and B.Com.,LL.B. (Hons.) at the Institute are approved and recognised by Bar Council of India (BCI). B.B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) programme is
    subject to BCI approval. Proposed to be commenced from the Academic Year 2025-26.
  • Total 300 seats are available for admission. Out of this 15% of the intake is likely to be filled-in under NRI/NRI Sponsored category as per Rules of the Government of Gujarat. Over and above NRI/NRI Sponsored Category, 15% supernumerary seats will be for FN/PIO/CIWGC-SEA as per UGC Rules.

There are three categories under which the students at the Institute is offered admission.

  • General Category – 85% = 255
  • NRI/(or NRI Sponsored) Category – 15% of total intake (300) = 45
  • FN/PIO/CIWGC-SEA Category (Supernumerary Seats) – 15% = 45
  1. Non-Resident Indian (NRI):
    1. Students who have studied and passed the qualifying examinations from schools or colleges in foreign countries
    2. The students studying in schools or colleges situated in foreign countries, even if affiliated to the Board of Secondary Education or universities located in India.
  2. Non-Resident Indian (NRI) Sponsored – Students who is supported (financially) by an NRI who is working abroad.
  3. Foreign National (FN) – Students holding passports issued by foreign countries
  4. Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) – Students who have acquired the nationality of foreign countries
  5. CIWGC-SEA – Children of Indians Working in Gulf Countries and South East Asia.
  • Passport of Self / Parent / NRI / NRI sponsored (As applicable)
  • NOTARIZED AFFIDAVIT – For NRI self-declaration on Affidavit proving the NRI Status and for NRI Sponsored, Notarized affidavit from Sponsoring person.

Documents required for admission for the International Students:

  • Visa: All students holding foreign national passports (except OCI) will require student visa endorsed to respective Institution under the Nirma University for joining full time course. The visa should be valid for the prescribed duration of the course.
  • Eligibility Qualifications: The qualifications required for eligibility for admission to different courses can be checked in detail from the prospectus. Only those students who have qualified from foreign Universities or Boards of Higher Education, recognized as equivalent by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) are eligible for admission,
  • Proficiency Test in English: An international student who has been granted admission to any of the courses after passing the qualifying examination from a statutory Board or University outside India may have to appear at the Proficiency Test in English conducted by the Institution. International students who have passed the qualifying examination in the English medium may be exempted from this test,
  • The student will have to undergo the medical examination and get the Medical Fitness Certificate. As per government rules, all international students entering India on student visa have to be tested for HIV and will not be given admission if found to be positive,
  • Students holding foreign national passport (except OCI) will have to; within one week of arrival in India, register their names with the police in the Foreign Regional Registration Office (FRRO) of the local Police.

The student will have to produce all original documents for verification at the time of final admission.

In addition, the students will have to pay the tuition and other fees as prescribed by the University from time to time including a one time non-refundable International Students’ Processing Fee of 30,000/-.

  • No, the Institute does not have any seat reserved under Management Quota.
  • Admission to the Five Year Integrated Programmes for the same academic year shall be based on the inter se All India merit rank of CLAT.
  • The candidates are compulsorily required to appear in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).
  • Candidates are also required to fill in the application form of the Institute of Law, Nirma University in addition to the CLAT form.
  • Admission under NRI/NRI Sponsored Category will also be considered only on the basis of CLAT score whereas, for Genuine NRI/FN/PIO/CIWGC-SEA categories, no qualifying exam is required. However, preference is given to CLAT.
  • Admission under General/NRI Sponsored Category will be considered only on the basis of CLAT 2025 whereas, for Genuine NRI/FN/PIO/CIWGC-SEA categories, no qualifying exam is required. However, preference is given to CLAT 2025.
  • A candidate should have passed Higher Secondary/Intermediate Examinations (10+2) or its equivalent examinations with not less than 45% aggregate marks.

In view of the Bar Council of India, Legal Education Rules -2008, University Grants Commission Act and Regulations, decision of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, the applicants who have obtained +2 higher secondary pass certificate after prosecuting studies in distance or correspondence method shall also be considered as eligible for admission in the five year integrated programme.

As per the Bar Council of India, Legal Education Rules – 2008, the applicants who have obtained 10+2 through open universities system directly without having any basic qualifications for prosecuting such studies are not eligible for admission in the integrated five year programme.

  • Merit is prepared considering the inter se all India Rank of CLAT 2025.

There is only one mode of application to apply to the Institute i.e., ONLINE.

  • A candidate interested in seeking admission to ILNU has to fill ILNU application form, in addition to CLAT 2025 form.
  • Candidates can fill the online application form at https://law.nirmauni.ac.in and submit the same online. Candidates are required to make online payment of Rs. 2500/- for General Category and Rs. 3500/- if applying under NRI/NRI Sponsored categories by Credit Card/Debit Card or Net Banking.
  • Candidates applying under NRI/NRI Sponsored Quota is also eligible for general Quota and do not have to fill separate form for General Quota.
  • Candidate has to submit Mark sheet of Matriculation for DOB proof.
  • For B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) / B. Com., LL.B. (Hons) / B.B.A., LL.B. (Hons)*: Migration Certificate is required ONLY for the candidate who have passed their qualifying examination from a board other than Gujarat Board.
  • For LL. M. (One Year): Migration Certificate is required ONLY for the candidate who have passed their qualifying examination from a University other than Nirma University.

Institute has hostel facility for girls on the campus. The hostel building is modern with all the facilities and amenities. Each room has an attached toilet and bathroom, furthermore each room is fully air conditioned.

Category I: Hostel fee (for 10 months considering two month vacation/internship period)

  • 15% of the intake is likely to be filled-in under NRI/NRI Sponsored category as per Rules of the Government of Gujarat. Over and above NRI Category, 15% supernumerary seats will be for Genuine NRI / Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) / Foreign Nationals (FN) and Children of Indians Working in Gulf Countries (CIWGC) – South East Asia (SEA) as per UGC Rules.
  • Admission under NRI Sponsored Category will be considered only on the basis of CLAT 2025 score whereas, for FN/PIO/CIWGC-SEA categories, no qualification exam is required. However, preference is given to CLAT 2025.
  • Fee Structure for NRI/FN/PIO/CIWGC-SEA categories – US$ 7500 per annum or equivalent in Indian Rupees plus INR 44, 200/- (Inclusive of Welcome Kit, Library Deposit (Refundable), Enrollment Fees, Examination Fees. Internship Fees, Student Activity Fees and Alumni Fees).

The Nirma University Campus is on the Sarkhej-Gandhinagar (SG) Highway. It is about 15 -17 kilometers from the Ahmedabad City. Located on the SG Highway, the High Court of Gujarat is about 7 kilometers away from the University.  The University is well connected with the city municipal bus service.  Private rickshaw and taxi services are also available from Railway Station, Bus Station or from the Airport.
